Little Linford, Buckinghamshire
Historical Description
Linford, Little, a parish in Bucks, on the river Ouse, over which there is a bridge of a single arch, and near Wol-verton station on the L. & N.W.R., 2 miles W of Newport Pagnell. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Wolverton. Acreage, 7 27; population, 70. The manor, with Linford Hall, belongs to the Knapp family. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Oxford; net value, £146. The church, a plain but ancient building of stone, has some memorials of the Knapps. The bell-tower is about 1000 years old; one of the bells is 400 years old, and the other 500.

St. Leonard (parish church)
The church of St. Leonard is a small and plain stone building, partly Saxon and partly Norman, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, a north porch and a turret containing 2 bells, of the early 14th and late 15th centuries: the chancel was rebuilt by M. G. S. Knapp esq. (d. 1896) and the north aisle was added by A. J. Knapp and M. S. Knapp esqrs.: in the nave is a marble tablet to the eldest son of Doctor Lee, physician to King George II. and to John Knapp, d. 1747; and there are other tablets and brasses to the Knapp family: by the side altar is a brass tablet in memory of seven men of the parish who served in the Great War, 1914-18: the church affords about 100 sittings.
