Standford, Kent
Historical Description
Standford, a parish, with a village and two hamlets, in Kent, near Westenhanger station on the S.E.R., and 2½ miles NW by N of Hythe. It has a post and telegraph office under Hythe; money order office, Hythe. Acreage, 1192; population, 288. The ruins of the ancient and magnificent mansion of Westenhanger are in this parish. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Canterbury; net value, £100 with residence. The church is a building of stone in the Early English style. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
