Sholden or Shoulden, Kent

Historical Description

Sholden or Shoulden, a parish in Kent, 1½ mile W of Deal station on the S.E.R. and L.C. & D.R., and extending to the coast. It has a post office under Deal; money order and telegraph office, Deal. Acreage, 1816; population, 370. There is a parish council consisting of five members. Lord Northbourne is lord of the manor. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury; gross value, £230 with residence. Patron, the Archbishop of Canterbury. The church is good and was restored in 1880.
