Postling, Kent

Historical Description

Postling, a parish in Kent, 1½ mile NW of Westenhanger station on the S.E.R., and 4 miles N of Hythe. Post and telegraph office at Hanford. Acreage, 1563; population, 125. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Canterbury; net Value, £190 with residence. Patron, the Archbishop of Canterbury. The church is ancient but good, and has a small spire. Kennet, author of " Roman Antiquities," was a native, and his father was vicar.
