High Halden, Kent
Historical Description
Halden or High Halden, a parish in Kent, 3½ miles NNE of Tenterden, and 6 S of Pluckley station on the S.E.R. There is a post and money order office, under Ashford; telegraph office, Tenterden. Acreage, 3749; population, 646. Some ponds are in various parts. There are potteries in the neighbourhood. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Canterbury; value, £250 with residence. Patron, the Archbishop of Canterbury. The church is very ancient, has a shingled oak spire, and has been restored. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
