Clanfield, Hampshire

Historical Description

Clanfield, a parish in Hants, 6 miles NW of Rowlands Castle station on the L. & S.W.R., and 5½ SW of Petersfield. It has a post office under Horndean; money order and telegraph office, Horndean. Acreage, 1404; population, 247. The living is a rectory, annexed to the rectory of Chalton, in the diocese of Winchester. The church, dedicated to St James, was erected in 1879, replacing a very dilapidated building of no architectural interest. There are Wesleyan and Congregational chapels.
