Historical Description

HERMISTON, a village, in the parish of Currie, county of Edinburgh, 1¾ mile (N. by W.) from Currie; containing 164 inhabitants. It is situated on the road from Edinburgh to Mid Calder, and near the Union canal, both which intersect the northern part of the parish; and is the third village of Currie in extent.
