Historical Description

HALBEATH, a village, in the parish of Dunfermline and district of Dunfermline, county of Fife, 3 miles (N. E.) from the town of Dunfermline; containing 461 inhabitants. This village is inhabited chiefly by persons employed in the extensive colliery in the neighbourhood, the produce of which is conveyed to the port of Inverkeithing, where it is shipped.
