Bishopmill, Elginshire

Historical Description

BISHOPMILL, a village, in the parish of New Spynie, county of Elgin; containing 755 inhabitants. It is a suburb of Elgin, from which town it is distant about half a mile, and stands on the north side of the Lossie, the former course of which river was nearer the town than the present course. The village is included within the parliamentary limits of the borough of Elgin, the cross of Bishopmill being the extreme northern boundary. - See New Spynie.
