Historical Description
TEMPO, a post-town, in that part of the parish of ENNISKILLEN which is in the barony of TYRKENNEDY, county of FERMANAGH, and province of ULSTER, 6 miles (E. N. E.) from Enniskillen, on the road to Five-mile-town, and 86½ miles (E. N. E.) from Dublin; containing 335 inhabitants. It is a station of the constabulary police, has a market on Wednesday for butter, and a fair on the 28th of each month. Here is a chapel of ease to the parochial church at Enniskillen; also the R. C. chapel giving name to the district, which comprises the greater part of the parish of Enniskillen, and three townlands of Aughavea; it is a neat structure, erected in 1826. A meeting-house for Wesleyan Methodists has been recently completed; and a dispensary is about to be established.
