Historical Description
Mapperton, a parish in Dorsetshire, 2¼ miles SE by E of Beaminster, and 5 from Bridport station on the G.W.R. Post town, Beaminster. Acreage, 821; population, 87. The manor, with Mapperton House, belongs to the Compton family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Salisbury; gross value, £260. The church was rebuilt in 1704.

Church of England
St. Mary (parish church)
The parish church of St. Mary, rebuilt about 1700, and restored in 1846, is an edifice of stone, consisting of chancel, nave, south porch, and a western turret containing one bell: there are two stained windows, and marble monuments to the Broderipp and Fox families : the church has about 90 sittings.
