Historical Description
KILCOAN, a parish, in the barony of IDA, county of KILKENNY, and province of LEINSTER; containing 441 inhabitants, and 2075 statute acres. The living is a rectory and vicarage, in the diocese of Ossory, episcopally united in 1779 to Kilbride, and in the patronage of the Bishop: the tithes amount to £113. 1. 11½., and of the union, to £158. 1, ll½. In the R. C. divisions it forms part of the union or district of Slieruagh.
