The church of St. Olave is one of the thirteen city churches which escaped the Great Fire, and is a good specimen of 15th century Perpendicular. It contains numerous memorials, including those of "Diary" Pepys and his wife Elizabeth, and a beautifully-carved pulpit ascribed to Grinling Gibbons which formerly stood in the church of St Benet, Gracechurch Street.
