The church of St Michael is in the Pointed style; was mainly built by Wren at a cost of £4686; has a fine turreted tower, in various styles, copied from the tower of a previous church; was restored in 1721 by Gibbs, and again shortly before 1861; and contains the graves of the chronicler Fabian and the Puritan Nye.
