South Milton, Devon
Historical Description
Milton, South, a village and a parish in Devonshire. The village stands near the coast, 2½ miles from Kings-bridge station on the G.W.R., and was anciently known as Middleton. Post town, Kingsbridge. The parish contains also the hamlets of Sutton and Upton. Acreage, 1550; population, 335. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Exeter; net value, £170. The church is later English, and consists of nave, N aisle, S transept, and chancel, and was thoroughly restored in 1885. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
