Historical Description

Wrenthorpe, a ward in the township of Outwood, and an ecclesiastical parish in Wakefield parish, in the W.R. Yorkshire, with a station (Lofthouse) on the Leeds and Wakefield railway, 2 miles NNE of Wakefield. There is a post office under Wakefield; money order and telegraph office, Wakefield. The ecclesiastical parish was constituted in 1875. Population, 2183. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Wakefield; gross value, £168 with residence. See STASLEY-CUM-WRENTHORPE.
