Woodside, West Riding of Yorkshire
Historical Description
Woodside, an ecclesiastical parish, chiefly in Guiseley parish, but partly also in Leeds St Peter and Adel parishes, W.R. Yorkshire, near Horsforth railway station, and 5 miles NW by W of Leeds. It has a post and money order office (T.S.O.) under Leeds; telegraph office, Horsforth. It was constituted in 1846, and contains about half of Horsforth township. Population, 3507. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ripon; gross value, £180 with residence. Patron, alternately the Crown and the Bishop. The church is in the Decorated English style, and consists of chancel, nave, N aisle, and bell-turret. There are Wesleyan and Free Methodist chapels.
