Historical Description
Whitechapel, an ecclesiastical parish in Birstal parish, W.R. Yorkshire, around Low Moor railway station, 4 miles S by E of Bradford. It comprises Scholes hamlet, and part of Cleckheaton, and was constituted in 1847. Post town, Normanton. Population, 3513. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Wakefield; gross value, £270. The church was rebuilt in 1831, and restored in 1888.
