Waddington, West Riding of Yorkshire

Historical Description

Waddington, a village, a township, and an ecclesiastical parish in Mitton parish, W.R. Yorkshire, 1½ mile NW of Clitheroe station on the L. & Y.R.,with a post, money order, and telegraph office under Clitheroe. Acreage of township, 2073; population, 510; of the ecclesiastical parish, 824. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ripon; gross value, £120 with residence. The church is in the Perpendicular style, and consists of chancel, nave, and tower. There are a Wesleyan chapel, and almshouses for thirty widows, each of whom has a house and £24 per annum.
