Historical Description
Whitley, Upper, a township in Kirkheaton parish, W.R. Yorkshire, 6 miles E by N of Huddersfield. Post town and telegraph office, Wakefield; money order office, Flockton. Acreage, including Denby, 2053; population, 844. Whitley Beaumont is the seat of the Beaumont family. Coal is largely worked. There is a Primitive Methodist chapel.
