Historical Description
Stutton-with-Hazlewood, a hamlet and a township, with a station on the N.E.R., in Tadcaster parish, W.R. Yorkshire, 2 miles SSE of Tadcaster. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Tadcaster. Acreage, 2795; population, 315. Hazlewood Castle, a magnificent edifice standing in a park of about 200 acres, is the seat of the Vavasour family, and a Roman Catholic chapel of 1286 adjoining it contains several handsome monuments.
