Historical Description
Owlerton, a village mainly in Nether Hallam township but partly in Ecclesfield township, and an ecclesiastical parish in Sheffield parish, W.R. Yorkshire, near the river Don and the Manchester and Sheffield railway, 2 miles NW of Sheffield. It has a post and money order office under Sheffield; telegraph office, Hillsborough. The ecclesiastical parish was constituted in 1876. Population, 6740. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of York; gross value, £200 with residence. There is a small Methodist New Connexion chapel.
