Dalton (Kirkheaton), West Riding of Yorkshire
Historical Description
Dalton, a township in Kirkheaton parish, and a ward of the county borough of Huddersfield, W.R. Yorkshire, on a branch of the river Calder, 1½ mile NE of Huddersfield station on the L. & N.W.R. It includes Bradley Mills and Mold-Green, and carries on the manufacture of fancy woollens and silk spinning. Acreage, 1341; population, 8413. Sir J. W. Ramsden, Bart., is lord of the manor.
