Historical Description
Swinton-with-Watermarske, a township in Masham parish, N.R. Yorkshire, on the river Burn, 1 mile SW from Masham station on the N.E.R., and 7 miles SSW of Bedale. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Masham (R.S.O.) Acreage, 1856; population, 186. Swinton Park is the seat of Lord Masham, who is lord of the manor.
