Swinton, a village and a township in Appleton-le-Street parish, N.R. Yorkshire, 2½ miles W by N of Malton station on the N.E.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Malton. Acreage, 1254; population, 318. There are Primitive Methodist and Wesleyan chapels.
