Silton, Over, a township and a parish in the N.R. Yorkshire. The township lies 6¼ miles E by N of Northallerton railway station. Acreage, 1235; population, 42. The parish contains also Kepwick township. Post town, Northallerton; money order and telegraph office, Osmotherley. Population of the ecclesiastical parish, 230. About one-third of the land is moor. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of York; gross value, £83. Patron, Trinity College, Cambridge. The church is ancient, in the Early English and Norman styles, and consists of chancel, nave, and turret.
