Newport, North Riding of Yorkshire
Historical Description
Newport, a hamlet now forming part of the borough of Middlesborough, in the N.R. Yorkshire, on the river Tees, at the boundary with Durham. It has a station on the N.E.R., a post, money order, and telegraph office (T.S.O.) under Middlesborough, and it transacts business in connection with neighbouring collieries, ironworks, and potteries.
