Historical Description
Edstone, Great, a village, a township, and a parish in the N.R. Yorkshire. The township lies on the river Dove, 2½ miles SSE of Kirby-Moorslde station on the Gilling and Pickering branch of the N.E.R., and 7 W by S of Pickering. Acreage, 1286; population, 104. The parish contains also the township of North Holme, and its post town is Kirby-Moorside (R.S.O.) Acreage, 1832; population, 128. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of York; net value, £193 with residence. The church is good, and there is a Wesleyan chapel.
