Historical Description
Ellerton-upon-Swale, a village and a township in Bolton-upon-Swale parish, in the N.R. Yorkshire, on the river Swale, 1½ mile E by S of Catterick. Acreage, 1685; population, 149. Henry Jenkins, who was said to have attained the age of 169, and died in 1670, was a native.
