Ellerby, a township in Ugthorpe parish, in the N.R. Yorkshire, about a mile from the sea, 7½ miles WNW of Whitby, and 1 mile from Hinderwell station on the N.E.R. Post town, money order, and telegraph office, Hinderwell (R.S.O.) Acreage, 759; population, 50. There is a church mission-room.
