Ogbury, Wiltshire
Historical Description
Ogbury, an ancient British work in the SE of Wilts, adjacent to the river Avon, 2½ miles S by W of Amesbury. It is usually called a camp, but it has no fosse, and it takes the first part of its name from a word signifying a " circular boundary;" so that it may be more appropriately designated a circular entrenched space. It occupies 62½ acres, measures 9 furlongs in circuit, and has a rampart 33 feet high.
