Chapel Plaster, Wiltshire

Historical Description

Chapel Plaster, a place 3 miles SW of Corsham, in Wilts. It was in the Romish times a resting-place of pilgrims on the way to Glastonbury Abbey, and in last century the retreat of the notorious highwayman John Baxter.
