Whinfell, Westmorland
Historical Description
Whinfell, a township in Grayrigg ecclesiastical parish, Kendal parish, Westmorland, 5½ miles NE by N of Kendal station on the L. & N.W.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Kendal. Acreage, 4346; population, 167. Whinfell Beacon is a hill 1500 feet high. There are three small tarns in this township.
