Historical Description
Smardale, a township in Kirkby Stephen parish, Westmorland, with a station on the N.E.R., 2½ miles WSW of Kirkby Stephen. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Kirkby Stephen. Acreage, 1663; population, 36. Smardale Hall, a mansion in the Tudor style, is now used as a farmhouse.
