Luddington, Warwickshire

Historical Description

Luddington, a village and, jointly with Dodwell, a township, and a chapelry in Old Stratford parish, Warwickshire, on the river Avon, 3 miles SW by W of Stratford-upon-Avon. Acreage, 1158; population, 109. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Stratford-on-Avon. The old church is now a ruin, and is said to have been the place where Shakespeare was married. The present church was built in 1872.
