Cokehill or Cookhill, Warwickshire

Historical Description

Cokehill or Cookhill, a hamlet in Inkberrow parish, Worcestershire, adjacent to the boundary with Warwickshire, 4½ miles W of Alcester. It has a post office of the name of Cookhill under Redditch; money order and telegraph office, Astwood Bank. A small nunnery was founded here in 1260 by Isabella, Countess of Warwick, and some traces of it exist.
