Alvecote, Warwickshire
Historical Description
Alvecote, a hamlet in Shuttington parish, Warwickshire, less than a mile S of Shuttington, on the river Anker. Alvecote Priory, now a picturesque ivy-clad farmhouse, was formerly portion of a Benedictine priory, founded in 1159; there are remains of a chapel adjacent.
