Stonegate, Sussex
Historical Description
Stonegate, an ecclesiastical district of Ticehurst parish, Sussex, 1 mile NE of Ticehurst Road station on the S.E.R., and 9 miles SSE of Tunbridge Wells. It was constituted in 1839, and has a post office under Hawkhurst; money order office, Ticehurst; telegraph office, Ticehurst railway station. Population, 488. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Chichester; net value, £165 with residence. The church, dedicated to St Peter, is a building of brick in the Perpendicular style.
