Historical Description
Southwater, a village in Horsham parish, and a chapelry partly also in Shipley parish, Sussex. The village has a station on the L.B. & S.C.R., 42 miles from London, and 3 from Horsham. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Horsham. Population of the ecclesiastical parish, 658. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Chichester; net value, £145 with residence. Patron, the Vicar of Horsham. The church was built in 1850, and is a small stone edifice in the Early English style. There is a Wesleyan chapel.
