Cross in Hand, Sussex
Historical Description
Cross-in-Hand, a place in the south-east of Sussex, 3½ miles SSW of Mayfield, and 1½ mile from Heathfield station on the L.B. & S.C.R., on the summit of a ridge, commanding an extensive and magnificent view. It has a post and telegraph office, a small church, and a fair is held at it on 19 Nov. The church was built in 1863, is in the Early English style, and has a bell turret and an octagonal shingled spire.
