Mount Felix, Surrey
Historical Description
Mount Felix, a seat in Walton-on-Thames parish, Surrey, adjacent to a bridge over the Thames, 5 miles W by S of Kingston. It is an Italian villa with a campanile, was built in 1839 after designs by Sir Charles Barry, and stands in very beautiful grounds. The part of the Thames apposite to it includes what is called Cowey Stakes, and is generally regarded as the ford over which Caisar passed in his second invasion of England when pursuing Cassivelaunus.
