Orwell Park, Suffolk

Historical Description

Orwell Park, a seat in Nacton parish, Suffolk, on the river Orwell, 4 miles SE of Ipswich. It gave the title of Viscount Orwell to the nephew of Admiral Vernon, was the place of Admiral Vernon's death, is now the property of the Pretyman family, has an excellent and well-furnished observatory attached, and contains busts of several distinguished persons and a rich collection of pictures.
