Great and Little Chell, and Pitts Hill, Staffordshire

Historical Description

Chell, Great and Little, and Pitts Hill, a township and a liberty in Wolstanton parish, Staffordshire, adjacent to Tunstall. There is a station at Pitts Hill on the North Staffordshire railway, and a post and money order office at Great Chell under Stoke-upon-Trent; telegraph office, Tun-stall. It contains the Wolstanton and Burslem Workhouse, and its inhabitants are chiefly colliers and potters. There is a chapel of ease to Newchapel ecclesiastical parish, also Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist chapels.
