Historical Description
Galley, a hamlet in Penkridge parish, Staffordshire, on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, 31- miles W of Cannock, and 4 NE of Brewood. It has a post office under Stafford; money order and telegraph office, Penkridge. It was united with the township of Hatherton in 1869, to form an ecclesiastical parish. Population, 840. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lichfield; net value, o£300. The church is modern.
