The Axe, Somerset

Historical Description

Axe, The, a river of Somerset. It rises on the Mendip Hills, 2 miles NW of Wells, and runs about 20 north-westward, past Axbridge, to the Bristol Channel at Uphill Bay. It is a good trouting stream.
