Pennypound, Somerset

Historical Description

Pennypound, a place in the centre of Somerset, on Sedgemoor, near Weston Zoyland, 4½ miles SE of Bridgwater. Fairfax encamped here in 1645, after the battle of Langport, and the Duke of Monmouth was beaten here in 1685 by the Earl of Feversham.
