The Barle or Barley, Somerset

Historical Description

Barle or Barley, The, a river of the western border of Somerset. It rises in Exmoor Forest, and runs about 16 miles south-eastward, past Simons-Bath, Withypoole, Hawk-ridge, and Dulverton, to a confluence with the Exe, 2½ miles oelow Dulverton.
