Sambrook, Shropshire

Historical Description

Sambrook, a township and an ecclesiastical parish in Edgmond, Cheswardine, and Chetwynd parishes, Salop. The township is 5 miles N of Newport, and has a post office under Newport; money order office, Hinstock; telegraph office, Cheswardine. The ecclesiastical parish includes also the townships of Howle and Pickstock, and was constituted in 1856. Population, 421. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lichfield; gross value, £150 with residence. The church is good. There is a Primitive Methodist chapel at Howle.
