Cwn Elan, Radnorshire

Historical Description

Cwm-Elan, a seat in Cwm-Dauddwr parish, Radnorshire, on the river Elan, 5 miles SW of Rhayader. The park around it has been described as the "paradise of the district, created, like Hafod, out of bare cultureless land," and the vale is the subject of Bowles' " Combe Elian," where he says- "Pass the hill, And through the woody hanging, at whose feet The tinkling Elian winds, pursue thy way."
