Otmoor or Ottmor, Oxfordshire

Historical Description

Otmoor or Ottmor, a common of about 4000 acres on the E border of Oxfordshire, on Akeman Street, adjacent to Bucks and to the river Ray, 6½ miles NE of Oxford. Roman pottery has been found in it around Akeman Street, and a Saxon camp is on it near Merton.
